Accrington fan group latest to sign MOU with club

The Official Accrington Stanley Supporters’ Trust (OASST) have become the latest supporter group to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with their club.

MOUs help formalise the relationship between a fan group and their club, setting out key terms of reference for how the club engages with its supporters on a formal basis, and are a tool that has been used by many supporter groups on the back of government recommendations to improve dialogue between football clubs and their fanbase.

Peter Leatham, chairman of OASST said “We have always enjoyed regular and healthy dialogue with the club and this just formalises and makes the activity visible to a wider audience.

“We as a trust are firmly committed to continuing our work with the club, in the interest of our fast-growing membership and we will update our members through our website.

“If there are any issues that fans would like us to address with the club they can email us, and we will discuss at the next meeting.”

Stanley’s Managing Director David Burgess added: “We have a fabulous relationship with the OASST that we are very proud of, the MOU formalises that relationship and ensures that it continues to flourish.

“As a small club we value all our supporters and continue to work with the OASST in improving our facilities and enhancing the experience for fans at Accrington Stanley.

“The amounts generated in fundraising by the OASST, to help us to continue to grow, have been tremendous and we look forward to more projects being jointly delivered in due course.”

Stanley’s Owner, Andy Holt, said: “Our fans are important in putting together our plans and we always value their input and views.

“By signing this Memorandum of Understanding we confirm our commitment to continuing dialogue with supporters and developing our special club together.”
