And finally… keeper scores season opener

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

The Austrian season’s kicked off already and it’s off to an astonishing start with the first goal of the season scored by a keeper. SV Mattersburg v SC Wiener Neustadt was only two minutes old when the away side’s keeper Joerg Siebenhandl lined up an innocuous looking free-kick just outside his own box. One massive punt upfield later and it was nestling in the back of SV Mattersburg’s net. Who says the long ball game doesn’t work?
