The history and diversity of Lincoln City is being celebrated in a unique fan-designed shirt launched alongside a “My Club, My Shirt” style event in the city centre today.
Bangor City fans to establish new club

A new football club has been established in Bangor, North Wales. The development is a consequence of what supporters of Bangor City FC have described as the “increasing uncertainty” around their club.
In a statement issued to the press this week, Bangor City Supporters’ Association stated, “The city of Bangor has been represented by a senior football team since 1876 and that mantle has been worn with some success and honour in recent times by Bangor City Football Club. However, in recent times supporters have had serious concerns regarding the continuation of the Club and its ability to fulfill its fixtures.
The Club’s Supporters’ Association has become increasingly concerned that there is continuing and increasing uncertainty as to the continued status of Bangor as the major football centre serving north west Wales and it has taken action to ensure the continuity of competitive football of the highest possible standard in the city and its catchment area.
This involves the establishment of a new football club for which membership of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) has been sought. Should the application be successful, the FAW will place the new Club in an appropriate league in the Welsh Pyramid.
At the same time, the Supporters’ Association is in the process of becoming a Supporters’ Trust, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. It will result in the formation of a community business that is sustainable, transparent, and credible. There is widespread support in the community which has seen hundreds of individuals becoming members, and future shareholders of the Trust, in the last three months.
The Trust will aim to be a positive, inclusive and representative organisation, open and accessible to all those sharing its vision, actively engaging with, and involving, the whole community, and working with partners who share its commitment to deliver a cohesive and inclusive future, maintaining and developing sustainable competitive football at all levels in Bangor and the surrounding areas.
The proposed Trust emphasises that its goal is not to be regarded as a Club seeking to undermine Bangor City FC but rather to provide the ethical practical expression of an organisation respecting, promoting and valuing the history of Bangor City Football Club and its predecessors.”
140 years of history is seemingly under threat and football supporters across the game will have sympathy with the dedicated fans of Bangor City. At a time of uncertainty for many clubs in the Welsh and the English game the need for tighter regulation that protects the future of clubs and the interests of the communities in which they exist has never been greater.
