The Football Governance Bill today achieved Royal Assent legislating for the introduction of an Independent Football Regulator (IFR).
The Football Governance Bill was back in the Commons yesterday for its Third Reading and passed by 415 votes to 98. It now looks set to gain Royal Assent, and thus become law, before Parliament closes for summer recess on 22nd July.
The Football Governance Bill continues to work its way through Parliament and Football Supporters’ Association reps have been working closely with officials in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to ensure the legislation is as strong and fan-friendly as possible.

The Football Supporters’ Association hosted Football Governance Bill: What next? in Parliament on Tuesday as around 30 new MPs and Peers met to discuss the incoming legislation – joined by EFL chair Rick Parry and FSA chair Tom Greatrex.
Stephanie Peacock MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport has today told the Football Supporters’ Association’s Annual Conference that the Government will deliver football reform – enhancing supporter engagement and giving crucial financial protections to clubs.
New culture secretary Lisa Nandy visited Bury FC yesterday and confirmed the Government will follow through with its commitment to introduce an independent football regulator.
