Coalition of Man City fan groups call for dialogue on ticket prices
A coalition of Manchester City supporter groups have written to their club urging them to freeze on season ticket prices and calling for dialogue.
Seven fan groups at Manchester City are calling on the Premier League champions to freeze or reduce season ticket prices for the 2025-26 season, as the traditional time for season ticket renewals approaches.
The coalition is also calling on the club to review its ticketing strategy, particularly in regards to its move towards the “flexi gold” scheme – a paid membership system – instead of providing more traditional season tickets as the Etihad Stadium has expanded.
“Many Manchester City supporters may be priced out of supporting their side due to the club’s ticketing policy decisions – whether through financial hardship or that they simply deem a season card no longer value for money. Some have already suffered this fate,” they said.
“This is an extremely difficult decision for individuals to make.”
The letter, sent to Manchester City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak as well as senior executives at the club, was co-signed by City Matters (the club’s Fan Advisory Board), the 1894 atmosphere group, MCFC Fans Foodbank Support, Solid Citizens (supporter campaign group), the Canal Street Blues (LGBT+ supporters club), Manchester City Disabled Supporters Association and Trade Union Blues.
Fan groups at the club say that season tickets have increased in all areas of the Etihad Stadium since the COVID-19 pandemic, climbing 15% between 2021-25 and 2024-25. The ground’s south stand has seen increases of 24%.
“We do not need to extract excessive and ever-increasing revenue from loyal supporters,” they said.
The coalition of supporter groups is now calling on the club to get back around the table and discuss ticketing as part of its supporter engagement obligations.
“We are concerned that limited meaningful dialogue has taken place between supporters and the club on season tickets.
“As supporter groups representing a wide range of fans and interests, we call upon the club to dedicate the bulk of the February meeting of City Matters to season ticket renewals, or to arrange an extraordinary meeting to fulfil this purpose.”
