Christmas is a busy time for matchgoing fans with a packed fixture schedule and, for some, lots of alcohol. Occasionally even too much. The vast majority of matches pass without major incident but sometimes things do go wrong for individual supporters.

There are many laws relating to alcohol which are football-specific (e.g. drinking in sight of the pitch, entering a stadium under the influence, consuming alcohol on a minibus en route to a match) and over the years we’ve seen supporters fall foul of such restrictions.

We’ve also heard of people pleading guilty or declining legal representation because they think they can save money and sort it out themselves in court. This can be a big mistake as Football Banning Orders often follow and they are no laughing matter.

Our message is simple: don’t go it alone. Legal representation is available.
