England and Wales Group G fixtures announced

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

With all the focus on South Africa it’s easy to forget there’ll actually be tournaments after the World Cup. Euro 2012 takes place in Poland-Ukraine and Uefa have today finalised England’s Group G qualification draw.

Interesting that there are some Friday fixtures in there for both nations. Apparently all FA’s have the option to play games on the Friday, instead of the Saturday, and it looks likely that may be taken up. While that’s good for watching in the pub with your mates it does mean an extra day off work for many England and Wales regulars.

We’re dissapointed that Uefa (via Football Supporters Europe), the FA, and the FAW didn’t consult us prior to taking the decision. Now that we’re aware of it we’re consulting our members for their views, see our poll left and if you have anything specific to add email it to [email protected]. Alternatively sign up to Fan Mail or E-Lions by joining the FSF and we’ll be in touch.
