England v Netherlands – called off

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

Tomorrow’s friendly (Wednesday, 10th August) against the Netherlands has been called off by the FA following police advice. England were due to face the World Cup runners up at Wembley but following three nights of rioting in areas of London the game has been cancelled.

The FA has confirmed that all tickets will be refunded in the next 21 days via a statement on TheFA.com:

“It is with regret that a decision to cancel tomorrow evening’s fixture against Holland was taken. Due to concerns regarding emergency service provision the authorities have advised us that under the terms of our safety certificate we are unable to host this fixture, or guarantee the safety of visiting supporters or the teams.

“General Admission tickets for this fixture will be refunded in full. Refunds will be processed directly onto the credit or debit card used for the original ticket booking. Supporters do not need to return their tickets to The FA as refunds will be processed automatically.

The FA is unable to refund by other payment methods. All refunds are expected to be processed within the next 21 days and we thank you for your patience during this process. Club Wembley members will be communicated with separately. Please note, as this match will not take place tomorrow, loyalty caps will not be awarded.”
