FSA and Chelsea fan groups meet sports minister

The Football Supporters’ Association today facilitated a meeting with Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston which included representatives from Chelsea Supporters’ Trust, Chelsea Women Supporters Group and Chelsea Pride. 

All supporters on the call made clear their solidarity with the people of Ukraine and absolute opposition to Russia’s invasion of a sovereign state. 

In relation to football-specific matters the sports minister outlined the process for the club to apply for an amended licence per their statement today. This application could include proposed amendments on ticket sales. 

The minister indicated that the Government will work with the club and leagues to consider changes along these lines. It is for Chelsea FC to give clarity on where any revenues generated will be directed as part of this application. This was welcomed by supporters’ groups on the call.

Lastly, supporters made clear their support for the Fan-led Review of Football Governance and the FSA hopes to see legislation in the upcoming Queen’s Speech.
