FSF confirms Fans’ Embassy in Rome

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

The FSF is pleased to confirm that it will be running another one of its famous Fans’ Embassies for the Champions League Final in Rome. Following on from the success of our efforts in Athens and Moscow, as well as our years of experience following the England national side, we will have a team of volunteers out in Rome on the 26th and 27th May offering information and advice to Manchester United fans ahead of their clash with Barcelona at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Fans’ Embassy is there to assist all fans, whether or not they have tickets, and we offer free, impartial and confidential advice to any fans who need it. We will have a 24 hour helpline in operation, and offer assistance for everything from pointing out the best bars, restaurants and routes to the ground through to more serious problems of lost passports, arrests or hospitalisations, and can put people in contact with the appropriate consular services from the British Embassy.

We’ll be handing out over 20,000 copies of our Away Goals fanzine on the streets of Rome, packed with feature articles, quizzes and key matchday information. Have a look at our sneak preview of our Fans Embassy service, or the FSF’s Guide to Rome as featured in Away Goals (both pdf files). These are only the tip of the iceberg, however, so keep an eye out for our team of volunteers in the Piazzas of the Eternal City for your free copy. If you’re not going to Rome (or if you miss us while we’re out there) then Away Goals will be available from our FSF Shop, at a nominal price of £1 to cover admin and posting/packaging costs.

For all the latest news and updates on our Fans’ Embassy, check out the FSF Guide to the UEFA Champions League Final. Updated on a daily basis, we’re committed to bringing you all the official and unofficial information. From policing to parking, drinking and dining, we’ve got it covered. If you have any questions about any aspect of Rome 09, don’t hesitate to drop us an email, we’re here to help.
