This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.
The FSF has announced a season long partnership with new football app, High5it. Due for release on 11th September for the new 2014/2015 season, the app aims to give fans a greater voice in the sport, and promote and celebrate everything good about the beautiful game.
Developed by fans for fans, the app will be available as a free download and works in real-time with live match data, allowing users to get the latest news from games, interact with friends and share their appreciation of great play.
Sharing the common goals of giving fans a greater voice, promoting respect and fair play, and increasing positivity in football, High5it is committed to supporting the FSF for the 2014/15 season.
This includes funding for new FSF projects and ensuring the High5it app meets the needs of the fans. Throughout the year, the FSF and High5it will also undertake a number of joint initiatives, including a celebration of diversity and grassroots football.
Ian Evatt, High5it Director of Football, said: “Football fans are the lifeblood of the game, whether supporting junior, local or professional teams. In the age of social media the High5it App gives real fans a new voice and the unique chance to spread positivity, where its digital immediacy feels like they’re almost in the dressing room with their heroes.”
Kevin Miles, FSF Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to announce our partnership with High5it which fits perfectly with the FSF’s aims of giving dedicated fans a voice within the game. New technology that echoes that desire to promote greater respect in football, increase fan participation, and improve interaction, is an open goal for our members to support.”

‘Look! They’ve all worn the away strip for today,’ said the old man in the flat cap behind me. I looked across to my left to the Leicester supporters in the away section and they were indeed wearing the same colour shirts. But it was not the team’s regular grey away strip, rather white tee shirts bearing a picture of their late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and their tribute to him in a simple two word message, ‘The Boss.’
Last week the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) had discussions with the Premier League which indicated that 160 of the season’s 380 games would not be broadcast live to UK audiences during 2020/21. They still insist this will be the case.
