Fulham and Manchester United fans unite on FA Cup ticket prices
Supporters from Fulham and Manchester United will be demonstrating together this weekend against the Manchester club’s ticket prices for the FA Cup fifth round.
Fulham travel to Old Trafford on Sunday for their televised FA Cup tie at 4.30pm and fans will be protesting against Manchester United’s “outrageous” ticket prices.
For away fans (and home members in equivalent seating), tickets for the tie were priced between £52 and £61 for adults, £41.50-£48.50 for supporters aged over-65 and young adults. While it’s £31- £35.50 for 16-to-17-year-olds and £25 for under-16s.
Chair of Fulham Supporters Trust Simon Duke said: “These outrageous prices show contempt for loyal supporters, who will face difficulties getting home after the game on account of the tie being switched to a 4.30pm kick off at the behest of the broadcasters.
“I encourage all Fulham fans attending Sunday’s game in highlighting these ongoing issues and supporting the FSA’s Stop Exploiting Loyalty campaign.”
Back in January, Manchester United came in for criticism from Leicester City fans for their pricing of the Foxes fourth round visit to Old Trafford – the cheapest adult ticket for the fixture was £51. Other seats in the away end at full adult prices were again priced at £52 and £61.
Leicester City fans stayed away from the fixture due to the pricing, barely selling out a 1,100 allocation. The club’s atmosphere group Union FS boycotted the fixture, their first boycott of a competitive Leicester City match in the group’s history.
Members of the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) and the Fulham Supporters’ Trust (FST) will hold a photo call in support of the #StopExplotingLoyalty campaign before Sunday’s FA Cup clash.
The joint action follows the two trusts’ participation in a yellow card protest at Craven Cottage before and during the league fixture between the two sides back in November 2023.
Duncan Drasdo, chief executive of MUST, said: “Across the country football fans are putting rivalries to one side because we are all fighting the same fight on ticket prices.
“Clubs are exploiting loyalty and fans are united in saying enough is enough.
“Of course, once the whistle blows, normal rivalries will resume in what is a key cup match for both clubs. But pre-match our message is united and it is clear – stop exploiting our loyalty.”
Representatives of MUST and the Fulham Supporters’ Trust will gather by the Trinity statue opposite the Manchester United megastore from 3.45pm.
