Get involved with the Fans for Diversity campaign

A number of spaces are coming up on the Fans for Diversity campaign’s Guidance Group, and we are welcoming applications from fans who think they have something to offer to the campaign in 2020.

The Guidance Group is a mixture of fans from all backgrounds who follow football at all levels of the pyramid, each bringing their own insight on diversity issues and acting as a sounding board and valuable forum for discussion for the campaign.

Its aims are:

  • To bring together knowledge of best practice in diversity and inclusion, and to offer creative ideas for how to promote the campaign at all levels of the game
  • To provide suggestions and advice on topical issues within football
  • To work alongside fan groups and individuals to deliver projects
  • To assist in the direction, planning and organising of events, such as the Fans for Diversity Annual Awards, and to represent the campaign at regional events and meetings.

The group meets four times a year, but prospective members would also be encouraged to attend other events and represent the Fans for Diversity campaign when needed.

Micky Singh, Chairman of Birmingham City fans group Blues 4 All and member of the Guidance Group for the past season said: “Hearing the stories from other groups doing great work at other football clubs has been a great education – because that’s what it’s all about, education.

“It’s been great being involved with the group and hearing about the successes of fan groups like ours from around the country.

“No one person has all the answers, so to have the knowledge and passion that we have on the Fans for Diversity guidance group has been priceless.”
