Green Football Weekend: Win £1,000 for your project

Green Football Weekend is almost upon us and the organisers are making a £1,000 grant available to support sustainability work in football.

This weekend’s Green Football Weekend is the second year that the campaign has been running, having been launched back in February 2023.

Submissions are now being sought from clubs and supporter groups on the sustainability work or project that would benefit from the Green Football Weekend grant.

“We’re offering supporter groups the chance to bid for a £1,000 cash prize that can be used to boost your club’s sustainability – from helping with refillable bottle stations on its grounds, to having funds towards a local sustainability campaign, you can make a huge difference for your club and community!” Green Football Weekend said.

“Simply make sure you score a goal for your club at and send 500 words to [email protected], explaining how you’d use the grant money.

“After the Green Football Weekend 2024 whistle has blown, our panel will review all submissions and choose a worthy winner.”

Green Football Weekend is open to submissions now and the deadline is Friday 9th February.

What is Green Football Weekend?

Back at the start of February 2023, the first ever Green Football Weekend took place and it provided supporters with an opportunity to contribute to tackling the climate crisis.

Throughout the weekend clubs wore green armbands during games to promote the message, pundits’ microphones were coloured green and supporters pledged to make environmentally-conscious choices around travel and food.
