Hereford fans crowd-fund anti-racist display
Hereford fans united this weekend in a show of anti-racist sentiment, following the abandonment of last weekend’s fixture following racist abuse of an opposition player.
Hereford’s FA Cup tie at Sporting Khalsa on 13th September was abandoned following reports of racist abuse from the crowd, which has led to two Hereford fans being banned while investigations into the abuse take place.
Determined to prove that the majority of fans were behind the anti-racist cause, a group of supporters who are members of the Hereford United Supporters’ Trust crowd-funded banners and 2,000 red cards, which were displayed as the teams came on to the pitch at Hereford’s match against Worksop.

The GoFundMe set up to support the campaign has a remaining total of £1,100 which will go to a designated charity of choice by the Sporting Khalsa goalkeeper, Ravan Constable, who was the subject of the racist abuse.
Richard Tomkins, chair of HUST and FSA National Council member said: “The abandoned FA Cup match at Khalsa was my lowest moment in football, but today is one of my proudest. What a brilliant show of support from our fans.
“We all felt powerless when we left Khalsa at 5 o’clock last week, yet supporters have turned this around. Each one of us has a responsibility, and out of all this upset there can hopefully be positive change”.
