Independent Football Ombudsman – 2023-24 Annual Report out now
The Independent Football Ombudsman has released its annual report for 2023-24. The IFO was established in 2008 and is a free-to-use service for football fans which adjudicates on unresolved complaints against clubs.
From July 2023 to June 2024, the IFO received 471 complaints from supporters for consideration and, of these, 158 were accepted for full investigation.
Chief ombudsman Kevin Grix said: “The IFO continues to play a crucial role in the effective functioning of consumer protection for supporters within the football landscape.
“Protecting the interests of supporters is particularly important during times of economic turbulence which, over the last few years, has negatively affected millions of households up and down the country.”
The FSA has long promoted the IFO as an avenue for supporters when they have exhausted the complaints process at their own clubs and are still seeking redress.
Over the past two years we’ve been working to build stronger relations with the IFO and have been impressed with their work in recent seasons.
FSA caseworker Vicki Goodfellow said: “The IFO service is totally free and a huge benefit to supporters who we’d always encourage to use the IFO when needed – they will listen to your complaint and they will take it seriously.”
