Does your MP back the Fan-led Review?

Over the past few months, hundreds of FSA members and supporters’ groups have contacted their MPs to ask an important question – “Do you back the Fan-led Review of Football Governance?”

See MP responses below:

  • Green tick – MP has responded positively to their constituent.
  • Question mark – the MP has not responded to their constituent / informed the FSA.

Generally speaking Labour MPs have said they back legislation to embed all of the Fan-led Review recommendations in law whereas Conservative MPs said they support the Government’s current position – which is that there should be an independent regulator and legislation may or may not be required.

The FSA firmly believes that legislation is required as, without it, football can back out of any promises made. Time and again elite club owners have promised to listen to supporters only to do the exact opposite when it comes to the crunch. The Fan-led Review recommendations tackle that head on.

Why isn’t my MP on the map?

We have only added MPs who have been contacted by FSA members or spoke in the Commons.

If you follow the steps below we’ll add your MP, and their response, to the map. It’s important to say that just because an MP isn’t on the map it doesn’t mean they don’t support the Fan-led Review recommendations – we just don’t know either way. Contact your MP and ask them.

How do I contact my MP?

We want all fans and supporters’ groups to contact their MPs.

We’d encourage you to craft your own letter, as you can make it more personal, and have created a “how to” guide here. However, if you’d like to download a template letter you can do so here. You can find your MP’s contact details here – once you’ve emailed them copy [email protected] into your email and we’ll add them to the map.

On Twitter? You could ask them in a tweet – remember to tag @WeAreTheFSA

My MP is on the map already – should I bother writing to them?

Yes! The more correspondence MP’s receive from constituents on this, the better.

My MP is supportive but not listed

Great – email [email protected] with further info and we’ll update the map.

#ICYMI: Leo does Dallas

Inter Miami FC are through to the final of the Leagues Cup – an annual tournament between club teams in MLS and Mexican football – after a barnstorming match against Dallas in the round of 16. Messi and his new teammates scraped through on penalties after the game finished 4-4. Two of those eight goals came courtesy of the best/worst own goals we’ve seen this summer. A classic.
