Ipswich fan’s yellow plan a brave move

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

This evening Marcus Brien will pull on his Norwich City shirt and head out to the match. Nothing unusual in that you might think, there are a lot of fixtures this evening and thousands across England and Wales will follow a similar routine. Well, not quite.

Marcus is actually an Ipswich Town fan and he’s wearing the Canaries’ colours at half-time on the Portman Road pitch during tonight’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.

The stunt is a one-off fund-raising event, in aid of The British Red Cross Haiti Appeal. We thought it was such an original idea for an obviously worthy cause, given the horrific events in Haiti, that we’d give Marcus a plug.

The event has the full endorsement and support of Ipswich Town, Norwich City, Suffolk Police and The British Red Cross. Marcus even got in touch with the Haitian FA who posted his letter on site.

If you’d like to sponsor Marcus in his unusual efforts you can via www.justgiving.com/norwichshirt.

Unbelievably we don’t think anyone was sponsoring him to wear the shirt in that link. Best of luck Marcus, you’re a braver man than us!
