Local sponsor helps Tangerines make third round away tie
The away end at Portman Road for this weekend’s third round FA Cup tie will be full of Blackpool fans in part thanks to the generosity of local sponsors.
Blackpool are travelling to Ipswich Town for the FA Cup on Saturday, and the team’s shirt sponsor TreadTracker is providing free coaches for the away fans making the 560 mile round trip.
Eighteen coaches have already been put on by the sponsors free of charge
“Like all fans I thought this was the worst possible draw especially so soon after Christmas – who could afford that trip?” TreadTracker owner Steve Richardson said.
“I thought, ‘I can afford it so why wouldn’t I? Whatever the result, people will enjoy the day out.”
Richardson’s gesture has been praised by Blackpool fans, including Blackpool Supporters’ Trust (BST). BST chair Christine Seddon described the offer as “outstandingly generous.”
“So many fans are priced out of football, especially those with young families – it’s a real Tangerine fairytale come true,” she said.
“A real sense of unity and optimism has been ignited and words just don’t cover how much we appreciate this.”
