Leicester City fans celebrated Foxes from all walks of life on Friday with an unveiling of a My Club, My Shirt exhibition in the Midlands.
A collaboration between the club’s LGBT+ fan group, Foxes Pride, and Leicester for All, the exhibition is the latest of the My Club, My Shirt format to recognise diversity among football fans.
The Fans for Diversity campaign, a partnership between the FSA and Kick it Out, also supported the work of the two fan groups and attended the launch along with representatives from the club and the FA.
“It went really, really well,” says Nilesh Chauhan, head of the Fans for Diversity campaign.
“It’s the first event of its kind at Leicester City – and it was great to see so many fans from all sorts of different backgrounds come together to talk about their experience at football.”
Held at Leicester SportS Centre, Leicester City were represented on the night by Sophie Howard, captain of Leicester City Women who are currently top of the Women’s Super League after two games. Sophie took part in a panel discussion on the night.
“Fans got a lot out of the discussions,” Nilesh said. “It just shows how important it is for different fan groups to work together. Foxes Pride and Leicester for All have done good work here.”
Leicester City’s My Club, My Shirt project is the 20th such exhibition using the format originally started at Cardiff City back in 2020.
Fans For Diversity is a campaign programme run in partnership between the Football Supporters’ Association and Kick It Out, English football’s equality and inclusion organisation. Fans For Diversity encourages, funds and supports initiatives by fan groups to promote diversity and inclusion in football, and to challenge all forms of discrimination.
