Led by Football Supporters Europe (FSE), of which the FSA is a member, fan groups across the continent today united to condemn plans by a selection of Europe’s biggest clubs to form a breakaway European Super League.

One of the bitterest rivalries in British football will be put on hold on Saturday, when Newcastle United and Manchester United fans will stand shoulder to shoulder to demand Safe Standing areas in Premier League.
Fans of both the Magpies and the Red Devils are ready to stand together and stage a demonstration in favour of Safe Standing, both before and during their clubs’ Premier League clash at St James’ Park on Saturday.
“The Toon Ultras” and “Stretford End Flags” supporters’ groups will meet before the late televised kick off on Saturday opposite Newcastle Central Station, and will then proceed with a march toward the ground, whilst flying banners and distributing leaflets.
The march will proceed with the motto ‘United we Stand’ as the rival fans call for Premier League clubs to provide safe standing accommodation similar to that which has been so successfully installed at stadia in Germany’s Bundesliga.
Both sets of supporters feel they’ve been unfairly treated after having had their away allocations lowered due to persistent standing at matches, whilst following with their clubs around the country.
Newcastle United Chairman, Chris Mort, has recently stated he would happily seek Toon fans’ opinions on a dedicated safe standing area at St James’s Park, as the club been threatened with reduced seating allocations from the local safety authority away fans persist to stand
at St James’ Park.
Once in the ground before kick off both sets of fans will join in holding up banners and, during the game itself, chants encouraging Mort to pursue his interest in the concept of safe standing will be the order of the day.
