Part of the Pyramid celebrates women’s game

At the end of October we celebrated the women’s game with our “Part of the Pyramid” event in Manchester.

More than 600 fans from across the country, and all levels of the women’s game, gathered at Freight Island in Manchester city centre ahead of England’s 2-1 defeat to Brazil at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 25th October.

Led by head of women’s football at the FSA Deborah Dilworth – who also runs our Free Lionesses work – the Part of the Pyramid event featured panel discussions, music, competitions, socials and more. It was run in conjunction with Fans for Diversity and the FA Women’s National League (WNL).

Deborah said: “It was brilliant to see so many people come and support the event and also to celebrate the part they play in the pyramid – we had players, coaches, fans, refs, club administrators all in the room.

“We have to pay tribute to the volunteers who helped me on the day, the FA and particularly the FA’s WNL team.

“Freight Island was an excellent venue, making everyone feel welcome. Their staff were brilliant on the day.”
