Save the date – fans across Europe prepare to gather once more
Posted on 14th January 2015
This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.
Football Supporters’ Europe (FSE), which campaigns across the continent on supporters’ issues, is gearing up to meet once again, this time in the Northern Irish capital, Belfast.
FSE will host its annual congress in Belfast this July, and the organisation is urging fans who wish to attend to save the date.
Starting on Thursday 2nd July, the European Football Fans’ Congress (EFFC) will gather to look at some of the biggest issues facing football fans across Europe.
This year’s event will start with a pre-Congress get together arranged by the Irish Fans Network and the Bohemians Supporters Trust in Dublin on the 2nd before the contingent travels to Belfast. EFFC workshops run until Sunday 5th July.
FSE are negotiating with accommodation providers in Belfast to get a good rate for those attending the Congress.
Before that announcement FSE are advising fans to save the date. Registrations are expected to open in early Spring.
Update – Tuesday, 27th January
Registrations for the event are now open – a short application form must be completed on the FSE website, and the deadline for applications is Saturday, 20th June.
FSE has been working to put together a programme of discussions and events – the preliminary list can been seen here. The Friday morning will open at the Seaview Stadium in Belfast for the “Football vs Politics” tour, to be followed by workshops on various topics throughout the weekend.
Elections to the FSE Committee will be held on the Sunday.
Further details of the event can be found on the FSE website, with a full breakdown of all the recommended travel options also available to view as a PDF.
