West Ham United fans take to streets in latest protest

Thousands of West Ham United fans marched across East London from Stratford Station to the London Stadium ahead of their club’s home game against Burnley on Saturday in the latest protest action against the club’s owners.

It followed October’s boycott which saw as many as 20,000 supporters stay away from their home fixture against Brentford while a post-match sit-in also took place last week following their game against Newcastle United.

Protesting supporters are calling on the club’s senior leadership, including owners Karen Brady and David Sullivan, to resign as unhappiness with the club’s direction on and off the pitch continues to grow.

Organisers Hammers United estimated 11,000 fans took part in the demonstrations on Saturday.

Chair of Hammers United, organisers of the march, Paul Colborne said: “Thousands marched, millions will see it, and nobody can now pretend this is a fringe voice of a few thousand voices.

“This is the West Ham majority. Peaceful, powerful, and impossible to ignore. The message was simple: No more spin. No more division. No more BS.”
