Women’s Football Taskforce: FSA represents fans in women’s game

Earlier this summer the FSA represented supporters at the latest meeting of the Women’s Football Taskforce, a body established in 2023 to progress the recommendations of the Carney Review.

Led by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport the taskforce brings together major players from across the football industry and government departments giving them the responsibility of implementing the recommendations of Karen Carney OBE’s review.

The FSA has represented supporters on the taskforce since its inception and was present at its latest meeting in June where player welfare, women’s game representation in the FA’s governance and the fan voice in women’s game governance were all discussed.

Deborah Dilworth, head of women’s football at the FSA, represented supporters at the meeting and outlined the good work dedicated supporter liaison officers do in the game and how they can benefit the women’s game.

The FSA was tasked with supporting a review of the role of supporter liaison officers at clubs alongside the Women’s Super League in order to “improve best practice around the role”.
