Part of the FSA’s job is to help out member supporter organisations at club level and a big part of that is training and development.
We’re now pleased to be offering online courses to our registered member fan groups covering a wide range of topics to help officers at trusts and other organisations develop.
Throughout the year we’ll be offering a four-part training course covering all aspects of being a board member at a community benefit society (CBS), led by the FSA’s training and governance manager Nicola Cave.
All of our training courses will be delivered free to FSA affiliates who register online – and you can download a course overview from the list below to find out more.
And keep an eye out for future courses, which will be announced in due course.

CBS Board Member Core Training Course
Four two-hour sessions, delivered online, covering all aspects of being a Community Benefit Society Board Member.
The four courses will repeat each month, allowing participants to dip in and out at their convenience.
Upon completion of all four sessions, participants will be invited to take an online assessment.
Those achieving the required pass percentage will receive a digital accreditation asset for their society to display.

CBS Secretaries Training Course
One two-hour session, delivered online, covering all aspects of being a Community Benefit Society Secretary.
The session will cover:
- The role of the Secretary
- Statutory, annual and occasional duties
- Day to day operational duties
- Minutes and reporting
- Election process
- Member registers
- Financial duties
- Constitutional amendments and policies
- Best practice examples
Sessions are limited to a maximum of 10 attendees.
Challenge & Conflict Training
One two hour session, delivered online, looking at how to solve conflict in the board room and create a healthy and productive environment where board members can challenge and debate ideas and decisions.
