Sad news came from China this week that former Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tioté had died from a heart attack aged just 30. During his 139 appearances for the Magpies he scored only one goal – you don’t need us to explain the backstory, just enjoy it once more. Rest in peace, Cheick.

And finally… fast-kickin’, low scorin’

The USA met neighbours Mexico in a World Cup qualifier this week. Finishing 1-1 the game got off to an excellent start with this fantastic long-range lob from Toronto FC midfielder Michael Bradley, who you may remember from a three game loan stint at Aston Villa in 2011. No?
