Blatant handball

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

Saturday’s FA Trophy 3rd Round tie between Blyth Spartans and Droylsden played host to one of the most blatant examples of cheating in recent times – and the player in question got away with it. Spartans, in green and white, are attacking and send a looping header destined for the back of the net only for Droylsden’s #9 to pull off a spectacular diving save – queue outrage as Spartans’ players and fans scream "Handball!". Have you ever seen a more blatant (and successful) attempt at cheating? The game ended 2-2.
