Euros: Information and support for fans

If you’re following your national team in the Euros this summer, it may be worth your while to read the below from our friends at Football Supporters’ Europe, who will be supporting fans on their travels…

For the first time in its history, the UEFA European Championship will take place across the entire continent, with matches played over 11 cities in as many countries—from Baku in Azerbaijan to Saint Petersburg in Russia.

While such a format offers a unique opportunity for fans to enjoy the experience of a truly European tournament, it also presents significant challenges—challenges that are, of course, compounded by the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite this added complexity, Football Supporters Europe (FSE) Fans’ Embassies representing 18 competing national teams will be active at UEFA EURO 2020, providing on-the-ground or online advice and support for travelling fans.

The Fans’ Embassies website forms an important part of this support, serving as a digital hub for key information, news, documents, and contacts. Each host city has its own section, including details on current public health measures, travel entry requirements, public transport options, and local legal assistance. In addition, the website incorporates a live chat function and the number of a 24/7 helpline.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s opening tie between Turkey and Italy at Stadio Olimpico, FSE Fans’ Embassies project manager Matt Willis said: “It’s been a bumpy road to EURO 2020, but we’ve put in a lot of work to make sure that fans—and especially travelling fans—have access to as much information, guidance, and support as possible.

“We’re thankful that our Fans’ Embassies team is comprised of so many experienced volunteers and professional fan workers who have been able to adapt to the unusual circumstances of the past 18 or so months.”

You can follow the Fans’ Embassies Facebook page for updates throughout the tournament, as well as the FSE Twitter and Instagram accounts.
