“Every time the big clubs don’t get what they like, they threaten to break away”

Football Supporters’ Association chief executive Kevin Miles appeared on Sky Sports News yesterday to discuss UEFA’s latest proposed European competition changes.

The plans, which are opposed by the FSA, would see European football competitions continue to bloat, with the rich getting richer, and two Champions League places set aside for historically successful clubs who had failed to qualify through league placing alone.

“Every time the big clubs don’t get what they like, they threaten to break away,” said Kevin. He added that the new proposal “flies in the face of what fans believe are sporting principles”.
