Extra Time!

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

Now we’ve all seen Ronny Rosenthal’s amazing miss at Villa Park which is often cited as the worst ever, but believe it or not, we think we might just have found a worse one. Unbelievable.

Although having said that, £150 million can’t even guarantee you someone who can finish those types of chances nowadays. Toblerone for a foot that boy.

Anyway, still on Ronaldo, last month he picked up the European Golden boot and told the world “with this Golden Boot I have changed football” before giving his take on the best candidate for the Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the year: “the best candidate for the other prizes is Cristiano Ronaldo”. Always a sign of modesty, referring to yourself in the third person.

As news reaches us that ITV are to repeat the Impossible Job – the doc which brought us the immortal ‘Do I Not Like That!’ – we salute Graham Taylor (it’s 14 years ago now, so we can laugh). Oh, and those of a delicate nature might not want to watch, there’s a few swear words in there. Feel free to watch the full length documentary here, or a nice little clip – Go Les!

It’s a cliché, but the best refs are often those you don’t even notice. So we make no comment on Brazilian ref, Jorge Emiliano dos Santos. Sadly, Jorge passed away in 1995, but his legacy lives on in a million and one internet productions. RIP.
