Following England Women’s victory in the Euro 2022 final on Sunday the FSA has issued the following statement:
Everyone at the FSA would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the England women’s team and coaching staff for their performance at the European Championship this summer – culminating in a remarkable victory in the final on Sunday.
Thanks must go to FSA staff and volunteers who have been running the Free Lionesses Fans’ Embassy team throughout the tournament, being on hand to offer advice and support to fans many of whom were at their first tournament.
No doubt Sunday’s win was a watershed moment for the sport and a clear sign that women’s football has a bright future in this country. The game cannot afford to let the momentum and positive feeling generated by the Lionesses’ success go to waste.
The enthusiasm for the women’s game demonstrated this summer must be captured and built upon, which is why we eagerly await progress from Government on their promised full independent review into the women’s game, as recommended by the Crouch report – a review which the FSA and our member supporters groups look forward to contributing to.

Before England’s international friendly fixture against Austria last night, a section of the crowd booed the England players taking the knee. Below is the FSA’s response:
Our Free Lionesses are back this summer and are looking forward to supporting fans through this year’s Euro 2022 tournament.
