FSA statement on Nottingham Forest points deduction

Football Supporters’ Association response to today’s (Monday 18th March 2024) Premier League statement that Nottingham Forest will receive an immediate four point deduction for breaching the profitability and sustainability rules:

The Football Supporters’ Association said:

“The FSA has consistently argued that football needs an independent regulator with real time powers to intervene and prevent clubs getting themselves into these situations.

“The Premier League has always fought against independent regulation and maintains that its clubs are able to regulate themselves. That is not borne out by the evidence at all.

“We’ve seen far too many clubs, in a variety of different ways, find themselves in financial trouble. Our sympathy is always with supporters – they didn’t cause the problem which led to this but they will feel they are being punished too.”
