FSF Yorkshire Division meeting (Sunday 23rd Jan)

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

The next meeting of the FSF’s Yorkshire Division takes place this Sunday 23rd January (12pm start) at Club 39 in Doncaster (First Floor, 39 College Road, DN1 3JH). Club 39 shares its entrance with Sticky Mits Childcare Centre – the entrance is at the junction of College Road and Queensgate, in the Waterdale Centre in Doncaster, opposite the Marathon Gym.

Members and non-members alike are welcome, join the FSF here today.

Topics for discussion will include submissions to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee inquiry into the governance of professional football clubs. The committee claims it is responding not only to high-profile cases at Liverpool and Manchester United but also “to broader concerns that current and future generations of football supporters…are ill-served by current football club regulations”.

Should football clubs in the UK be treated differently from other commercial organisations? Is there too much debt in the professional game? Are there lessons to be learned from football governance models across the UK and abroad, or in other sports? The committee will consider all this and more.

As well as the Yorkshire Division’s meeting the FSF National Council will also be holding their bi-monthly committee meeting which all members are welcome to attend. A small buffet will be available and registration is required.
