Job vacancy: Head of National Game and Community Ownership
The Football Supporters’ Association is the democratic, membership-based organisation working to represent the interests of football supporters in England and Wales, promoting good governance in sport and encouraging clubs, leagues and other competitions to be run with integrity and in a sustainable manner.
We are looking for a strategic leader with experience of working at a football club, either at board or senior operational level, with experience and knowledge of the governance of the game, and detailed understanding of FA and league structures outside of the professional leagues.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing staff, excellent communication skills, and a passion for football and the importance of the role of supporters in the game.
The role includes responsibility for the strategic leadership, policy development and management of the FSA’s work in community-owned clubs and the National Game.
The post-holder will work with colleagues to support the creation and develop the capacity of supporter groups and networks of clubs across England and Wales, to assist in sustaining and building the game. You will be required to react to the needs of individual clubs and supporter organisations, and work with those clubs that find themselves in challenging or critical situations.
You will work alongside other members of the FSA staff team to ensure the long-term health of the game, encouraging, promoting and developing support for association football and goodwill between football supporters at local, national and international levels.
This is an exciting opportunity to help drive forward the FSA’s work in sustaining the game of football through the active participation of supporters working with all those who care deeply about the positive impact the game can have on wider society.
- Hours: 37.5 hours/week
- Salary: £46k pa (London weighting may be considered)
The successful applicant will need:
- Knowledge and understanding of FA and football administrative structures;
- Experience in a football club at either executive or board level;
- Line management experience;
- Demonstrable belief in community-owned, democratic business models;
- Experience as a match-going football supporter and an awareness of the issues affecting match-going fans;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- To be organised, focused, and able to work at a strategic level;
- An ability to work both independently and manage a team.
