Liverpool price freeze “positive step”
Liverpool’s decision to freeze season and matchday prices – announced today – has been welcomed by supporter groups at the Merseyside club.
The club said they would freeze prices at Anfield next season following consultation with supporters despite their operational and footballing costs increasing once again.
The Spirit of Shankly supporters’ union welcomed the club’s decision, describing it as a “positive step” that recognised supporters’ concerns.
“We made it clear that any increase would negatively impact loyal supporters and undermine the traditions and culture of our club.
“With record revenues, an expanded Anfield capacity, and a corporate offering of 11,000 seats, we have consistently argued that further ticket price increases were unnecessary.”
Supporter groups at Anfield have been heavily involved in the #StopExploitingLoyalty campaign – a national campaign that kicked off in the summer of 2024.
Since then protests from FSA members at Premier League grounds have secured thousands of column inches and kept the issue of ever-rising ticket prices in the spotlight.
Today’s announcement from Liverpool is a first victory for the campaign and puts the pressure on other Premier League clubs to follow-suit as we enter the season ticket renewals period.
“The freeze is progress,” Spirit of Shankly said. “But our fight for fairer ticketing, lower prices and the preservation of football culture continues.”
The Liverpool FC Supporters Board, the body that leads supporter engagement with the club, also welcomed the announcement.
“We are pleased that our views have been heard and that a freeze on general admission prices has been agreed.
“We remain committed to working with the club on issues affecting supporters, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that football remains both affordable and accessible for all.”
