MPs back FSA ticket price campaign
The FSA’s #StopExploitingLoyalty campaign has received Parliamentary support with MPs signing an Early Day Motion (EDM) in support of lower top-flight ticket prices.
As well as pushing for a halt on ticket price rises the campaign seeks to defend concessions for the youngest and oldest supporters while pushing for clubs to increase engagement on this issue.
Last month we visited Parliament to launch the Stop Exploiting Loyalty Blueprint which outlines the core principles behind the campaign. MPs in attendance listened and were happy to get behind supporter work in this area.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Football Supporters aims “to represent the interests of match-going football fans and to support the aims and objectives of the FSA” and MPs on the group have consistently been strong advocates for supporters in Westminster.
The EDM was tabled on Monday 1st December by APPG chair Ian Lavery MP (Blyth and Ashington) and has so far been signed by 17 MPs. While EDMs don’t lead directly to legislation they raise the profile of issues in Parliament and attract media interest.
You can see more on the EDM here including the list of supportive MPs.
- Action for supporters – why not ask your MP if they’d be willing to sign the EDM or join the APPG for Football Supporters? Find out how to do that here.
EDM 2406
That this House expresses support for the Football Supporters’ Association’s Stop Exploiting Loyalty campaign which seeks to stop ticket price rises in the top-flight of English football by way of a two-year price halt for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons; congratulates the 115 supporter organisations who put club rivalries aside to co-sign the letter backing that campaign; calls on the league and its clubs to share clear and transparent ticketing data, including prices, sales, policies, and demographics, with supporters; supporters use the two years to hold open, ongoing discussions with Fan Advisory Boards and supporter organisations on future pricing plans; defends concessionary pricing bands which have been under attack by clubs and understands that these concessionary pricing categories are essential in helping extend access to football for the youngest and oldest supporters as well as those with disabilities; and encourages the new Independent Football Regulator to ensure that clubs entering consultation with supporters on ticket pricing do so with integrity and guidance which goes beyond a tick box exercise and instead helps deliver football for all at a fair and affordable price.
- The FSA would like to thank all MPs who have signed EDM 2406. If you’re an MP or Peer who would like to hear more about the FSA’s work email: [email protected]
