Need legal help over the Christmas period?

Christmas is a busy time for football supporters with a packed fixture schedule and, for some, plenty of alcohol. Occasionally even too much. The vast majority of matches pass without major incident, of course, but sometimes things do go wrong for individual supporters.

There are many laws relating to alcohol which are football-specific (e.g. drinking in sight of the pitch, entering a stadium under the influence, consuming alcohol on a minibus en route to a match and so on) and over the years we’ve seen supporters fall foul of such restrictions, especially around the Christmas holidays.

We also hear too many stories of people who decline legal representation and/or plead guilty because they think it’s a way to save money and that they can handle the matter themselves in court. This often turns out to be a big mistake, because Football Banning Orders can often follow convictions, and they are no laughing matter.

Our message is simple, if you get caught up in trouble at the match this Christmas for whatever reason: don’t go it alone. Legal representation is available.

Football Law Associates specialise in representing football supporters who require advice and assistance, whether that’s initially at the police station or later on in court. Representation at the police station is free under the Legal Aid Advice & Assistance Scheme and some supporters will be eligible for free representation at court.

Football Law Associates have had a long standing working relationship with the FSA which goes all the way back to 2008, and have helped countless supporters over the years. The FSA receives no referral fee from FLA – we have just seen them do a good job for hundreds of fans over the years.

If you would like a confidential and free call with one of their solicitors please call 0333 939 0063 or contact them via Football Law Associates.

Of course we hope you never need FLA’s services, and that you enjoy the festive period.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
