Nominations for national council

This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.

Ahead of the formation of a unified national supporters organisation, we’re seeking nominations for its new representative body.

The Football Supporters’ Federation and Supporters Direct will be merging into one organisation in the coming months and we’re looking for fans to fill a new-look national council before the official formation of the new body in November.

The new representative structure will consist of six networks of affiliates, who in turn will elect three representatives each to sit on the council.

Representatives will be elected from the following areas:

  • Premier League
  • EFL Championship
  • EFL League 1 & League 2 (combined)
  • National Game
  • Supporter-owned football clubs
  • Fans for Diversity

The aim is for the affiliate networks to have selected their representatives by November 18th, 2018 – an online vote will be held which will be ratified at November’s EGM.

Positions on the new council will typically be for two years, although the first term will likely be 19 months running to summer 2020, before the roles are up for re-election.

As the new organisation isn’t yet operational, in this transitional period if an election for an affiliate network is required, it will be coordinated by the FSF and SD staff.

FSF and SD staff will check eligibility of candidates at the end of the nomination process and will check eligibility of votes cast at the end of the election process.
