Nominations open for FSA Awards 2024
The Football Supporters’ Association’s 2024 Awards are fast approaching, and we need your help once more in highlighting the best the game has to offer – with nominations now open.
Last year saw Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah pick up the Men’s Player of the Year trophy for the third time in six years, with Arsenal’s Frida Maanum taking the Women’s Player of the Year award and Henry Winter (pictured below, receiving his award from Sam Matterface) celebrating another Writer of the Year Award, but who do you think should be in line for the FSA Awards this year?
The Awards will be taking place on Monday 2nd December, and we’ll be celebrating the very best in football from the top players to your favourite fanzine, with a new category offering you the chance to nominate your Goal of the Year.
Once all the nominations are in, a shortlist of six will be drawn up for each category. Winners will then be selected by public vote or an FSA panel following the nominations process which is now open.

What about fanzines?
Fanzines can nominate themselves by sending print copies to us at: The Football Supporters’ Association, PO Box 1449, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, SR5 9UW.
This award is for printed fanzines, so if you are digital only, you can still nominate yourself for the Fan Media award at the link above.
Please send at least one print copy of an edition from 2024, and ideally copies of multiple editions of the fanzines from this year to allow us to judge your output (no more than six fanzines in total – whether that’s one copy each of six different issues, two copies of three different issues, and so on). You can also send digital versions to [email protected], but submissions which don’t feature at least one hard copy will not be considered.
These need to reach us as soon as possible so we can distribute these to our panel of judges, which will convene in November, so get them in the post soon. Also, somewhat strangely, we’ve had issues with ‘signed for’ deliveries to the PO Box in the past, so standard 1st/2nd class post is recommended.
How do I nominate someone?
You can nominate up to three candidates for each category by following this link, but you do not have to nominate for all categories. Nominations are open until Monday 14th October, with the final shortlists being announced and open for voting (where appropriate) in early November.
Is this a vote? If I get loads of nominations will that help my podcast/website/YouTube channel?
In short, no. It doesn’t matter if you get one nomination or one thousand, each nominated contender gets the same consideration from our shortlisting panel, so you don’t need to get loads of your friends to nominate your pet project if you’ve already done it.
Who is eligible for Goal of the Year?
Our new category this year is open to goals scored by both men’s and women’s teams, who play at a minimum of Step 6 of the National League System or Tier 4 of the Women’s Football Pyramid in England, or Tier 2 of the Welsh football league system. By our count, that’s around 1,223 teams, give or take.
Nominations are to be made by submitting a video link – please note that these must adhere to copyright rules for entries to be accepted, and so need to come from an official account of the club, league or competition concerned, or media rights partner (eg: BBC/TNT Sports/Sky Sports). Self-shot mobile phone footage from within a ground is not accepted.
How are the winners decided?
Nine categories (both player awards, Commentator, Football Media, Goal, Podcast, Social Media, TV/Radio Pundit and Writer of the Year) will be decided by a public vote. The remaining categories will be decided by a panel of judges selected by the FSA.
When are the FSA Awards and can I come?
They take place on the evening of Monday 2nd December in London. All shortlisted nominees will receive tickets to attend – it is unlikely that any tickets will be available for general sale.
