This is a story from the FSF archive – the FSF and SD merged to become the FSA in 2019.
This petition is now closed.
We the undersigned urge the government and Mayor of London’s office to help Save Leyton Orient Football Club by reconsidering their endorsement of West Ham’s move to the Olympic Stadium. Premier League and Football League rules on ground moves clearly state a move should not “adversely affect Clubs (or Football League clubs) having their registered grounds in the immediate vicinity of the proposed location”. The London Olympic Stadium is within the “immediate vicinity” of Leyton Orient FC.
This petition is hosted on behalf of Leyton Orient Fans’ Trust and Leyton Orient Supporters’ Club. Both are affiliate members of the FSF.
The Olympic Park Legacy Company’s (OPLC) recommendation that West Ham United should be given approval to move the club from its historic Boleyn Ground to the Olympic Stadium at Stratford could prove catastrophic for Leyton Orient.
It is FSF policy that ground moves should only take place when they have both the majority of fans’ support after a full, free, and fair vote. The Hammers’ hierarchy has still not carried out proper consultation with the club’s own support which is split on the proposed move. Their voice should be heard too.

The FSF hosted this petition on behalf of its affiliate supporters’ organisations at Leyton Orient FC. This decision was taken after consultation with those affiliates and individual FSF members who contacted the FSF in December 2010.
