Posted on 26th February 2020
Supporter representatives from across Europe met in Belgium recently following the launch of the continent-wide “Fans Matter” supporter engagement campaign.
The FSA was represented at the Supporters Direct Europe AGM, held in Beveren over the weekend of 15-16th February, by Ashley Brown and Richard Irving.
SD Europe is the organisation responsible for the development of fan engagement across 38 European countries and is also responsible for the implementation of the Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) programme across the continent.
For the AGM and conference, the FSA was joined by over 60 other individuals from fan groups, national associations and community owned clubs from 19 countries to discuss a number of subjects including the SD Europe fund, SLO training and the LIAISE project.
In addition, attendees also collaborated within a series of workshops throughout the weekend.
The ‘Fans Matter’ project brings together national associations, national supporters organisations, fan-owned clubs and continental supporters organisations and will see the partners participate in a series of exchanges, training events and meetings with the objectives of better equipping each organisation to operate within the complexities of the modern football landscape and to strengthen the relationships between supporters and those who run the game.
Richard said: “The FSA would like to thank SD Europe and fan-owned YB SK Beveren for hosting the event which all present agreed had been a great success.”
