Prostate United founders Stephen Gilpin and Ross Burbeary

Sign for Prostate United this October

Prostate United 2026 is bringing together supporters, clubs, players, volunteers, broadcasters, staff and football legends this October to take on one common opponent: prostate cancer.

Prostate Cancer UK is calling on football supporters to walk, run or cycle every day throughout October, while raising money to save men’s lives.

Prostate Cancer UK says it is the most common cancer in the UK, affecting one in eight men, and the only one without a screening programme.

Every 45 minutes, one man dies from prostate cancer in the UK. For black men, the risk is even higher, with one in four likely to receive a diagnosis during their lifetime.

Prostate United: “Take on the challenge with mates, family or fellow fans. Wear your colours with pride. Climb the Prostate United league table. Make a difference.”

Funds raised go towards lifesaving research, raising awareness and support for men and their families who are diagnosed with prostate cancer. Earlier diagnosis means better outcomes for men across the country.

Sign up free, find your football club on the Prostate United website. Everyone raising £500 will earn a limited-edition Prostate United shirt.

How did Prostate United start?

Prostate United was founded by Stephen Gilpin and Ross Burbeary in 2018 after Stephen lost his grandfather to prostate cancer. It has raised more than £1.5m, bringing together thousands of participants from the football world.

Former Newcastle United, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Ghana boss Chris Hughton pledged his support to Prostate United this year after he was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer last in 2025.

Hughton said: “My life changed when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year. But my story is ultimately a positive one. I’ve been humbled at the kind messages from within the football community since speaking out, and among the messages I’m passing on is that this is a treatable disease if caught early.

“My aim now is to educate and help people and change the game for men – and football is the perfect platform to do that.”

“Teams win, lose and draw across the UK every week, but Prostate United is the only club that matters. This October staff, fans and famous faces will run, walk and compete every day to raise funds to help beat this disease. It’s a fantastic challenge, and good luck to everyone involved,” added Hughton.
