#StopExploitingLoyalty – A Blueprint
At the end of last year we visited Parliament to launch our #StopExploitingLoyalty Blueprint which spells out the campaign aims and gives FSA member groups discussion points to raise in meetings with their clubs.
Copies were handed out to our supporter groups and MPs – who responded very positively to our arguments and tabled an Early Day Motion in the Commons backing the campaign.
Many supporters feel the traditions, values and supporter culture that have made English football the envy of the world are under threat from escalating ticket prices, commercialisation and corporate greed.
The #StopExploitingLoyalty Blueprint takes aim at those threats and the growing disconnect between many clubs and their loyal supporters, outlining the principles under which the campaign operates.
What is #StopExploitingLoyalty?
Of all the issues impacting football supporters the price of tickets has always been close to the top of the table and, over the past few years, many fans have faced eye-watering price hikes – particularly in the Premier League.
Supporters have long campaigned to keep football affordable and there have been some big wins which came about after FSA campaigns – such as the £30 away ticket price cap in the Premier League and FA pledges on semi-final and final costs.
#StopExploitingLoyalty is led by top-flight supporters’ groups and aims to:
- Halt price rises – we want affordable football;
- End the attack on concessions;
- Protect the matchgoing culture;
- Support local campaigns.
Action for individual supporters:
We are seeing activity and campaigns around this issue at clubs across the Premier League. Join your local supporters’ group and get involved. If you don’t know which groups are active at your clubs contact the FSA and we can point you in the right direction.
